Cleaner, Safer, Prouder, Together
Thank you for your interest in joining us here at the London Borough of Havering.
We are privileged to serve our residents and we want people to be at the heart of everything we do so listening to the voice of the child, and ensuring our services are meeting their expectations is really important to us.
Like all local authorities, we face challenges. In recent years we have had to respond and adapt as central government funding has been significantly cut, and obviously we are all having to respond to Coronavirus, but despite all of that we are on an important journey to improve Children’s Services, and therefore the aspirations and outcomes for young people in the Borough.
We have huge potential, and there are many benefits to working with us here in Havering.
You will be working with high quality, loyal and dedicated staff; we have energetic and fresh political leadership which is determined to get things done; as a place, we are well positioned geographically to get into London with Crossrail running right through the Borough and Liverpool Street being only 20 minutes away; we have exciting opportunities for regeneration and growth; we look at outcomes for or residents collectively, not services working in their silos and we are striving to be an employer of choice, which we want all staff to have a role in developing and implementing. Havering is uniquely placed as a London Borough, able to look into London, but out to Thames Estuary to work with partners to deliver the best possible outcomes.
As a place and a council we are at a crossroads, it’s been a difficult decade but we have achieved great things in that time, and are rated by IMPOWER as 5th most efficient Council in the Country, but now with Coronavirus our communities and businesses need our leadership more than ever, and want to see more change and progress.
Thank you again for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Councillor Damian White
Leader of London Borough of Havering
